We are currently looking for a cocker spaniel that would be primarily a house dog. I don't know if we rescued our last cocker or he rescued us! He was dropped off at our house and his fir was in poor shape. We took him to the vet, got his hair groomed
nd tried to create a good place to live until his died. (He was diagnosed with heartworms and the vet thought it would be too risky to treat because of his advanced age.) Anyway, following his vet visit, three days later he killed a copperhead in our fr
nt yard. He was truly a joy to have and I'd welcome another addition to our home.

I just lost my "baby", Missy, a black cocker, to cancer this year. My remaining dog, a cocker-terrier mix, was heartbroken (as was I), so I set in search of a "friend" for her. (Wish I'd known about your website then!!). I adopted an abused black cocker
lab mix female (heartworm-positive) from a local shelter and she has been successfully treated medically as well as showing encouraging emotional improvement.
My household can only support two dogs, but I would like to help in your splendid rescue efforts. What would be the best way to do this?

I ahd a gold cocker from when I was in school through to when our son was born. He was blind, almost deaf and starting to get a little wobbly when we decided it was best to let him go. He was 16. Now we have two boys, one gold and one black. They are brot
ers and will be 7 on November 12, 2000.
We live in Sydney, Australia and the boys are part of almost everything we do. We have a spot on Lake Macquarie, about one hour north of here, and we spend a lot of time boating and splashing around in the water. It's a great place for the boys.
We find people can't resist patting the dogs when we are out walking. Their names are Geordie (gold) and Dougal (black). Dougal has a white mark on his chest (his star of Dougal) otherwise he is jet black.

My 9 yr. old was a rescue of sorts. His previous
owner moved to an apartment and had to give him up. Fortunately he was returned to the breeder at ten months. I was able to buy a used dog for $65.00. He turned out to be Mr.Rufus and the best money I ever spent. My other is Dusty a 7 yr. who

I have a 7 yr old cocker, who will be 8 on x-mas
eve. He still acts like a pup. He's very good natured and very friendly. His house mate is a
s/f Rottweiler. Sometimes my cocker- his name is Meister, gets in all kinds of mischief. He is in to everything if you don't watch him close. It's
like having a baby in the house- you need to keep things picked up or locked up. But we love him.
I was looking at the Rottweiler breed rescue
last night. All these dogs that need homes make
you sad. I'd love to have more, but know that you have to limit yourself in order for all of them to
get the proper food and vet care they need.

Since December, I lost my most recent two wigglebutts, Amber (june 29th -- age 14) and Bonnie-Blue (december 7th - age 13). My heart remains broken, but the memories are so precious and help me to cope with the pain. Previous to them, I had Butterscotch
(february 28th, 1985 - age 13). Right now we have a 14-1/2-year-old Cocker/Lab mix, Rowdy, a 13-year-old Portuguese Water Dog, Mafalda, and a 2-year-old foster dog (who we have been fostering for 17 months as nobody wants to adopt her???) who is a mix of
English Shepherd, German Shepherd and Rottweiler (??) named Snickers.
I know I will have more Cockers in my life, there is no other way, and for now I am doing so vicariously by searching the websites. I am very tempted to adopt one of the babies on your site, but know I need some more time right now so that I am not tryin
to "get Amber back" instead of truly adopting someone new. I hope you understand what I mean.

11 month ago I received a call from my vet. There was a kennel that had >60 cockers taken from it d/t abuse&neglet.He had the opportunity to see some of the dogs and there was 1 multi that caught his eye. She weighed<15# and was extremely timid. He estima
ed she was approx 2yrs old. He wanted me to go & see her so I did and fell in love. I brought her home as my foster dog. The original ower won the court case 9 months later & was awarded some of the dogs back. I thank God my baby wasn't on the list. She n
w wgs 33# and shares a very happy life in our country home with her big sister(cocker) and little brother(golden retreiver). Now that's a happy ending huh?
