I was sitting in the stairwell, hidden in the shadows as I watched the party going on downstairs. My younger brother and two sisters were sleeping, but I just had to watch.

Daddy was the center of a group of business types as usual. Dad was talking quietly in a corner with Aunt Chloe. The music was soft and mellow, background as Daddy called it. There were flashes of expensive jewels here and there on the beautiful women in the room.

The staff moved around the room with trays loaded with champagne and canapes. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. Every once in a while I would see Dad look across the room at Daddy and he'd turn as if he 'felt' the eyes watching. A smile would pass between them until someone once more claimed Daddy's attention.

The two of them had been away for a few days, something they didn't tell us about. It wasn't often that they went anywhere for longer than a few hours without us. The times they did Grandma would come and stay with us.

I suspected they had been away considering a new baby. Daddy had had that look lately on his face. Josette would be starting school next year. My best friend Charlie had asked me once how they could be together so long and still be so intense with each other. His parents didn't even share a bed anymore.

I was just glad that they were so happy together. I knew I should go to bed, Dad had promised to take us shopping the next day. We needed gifts for Grandma still and I hadn't decided what to get them yet.

The music changed as the staff moved around carrying cups of coffee this time, with miniature cakes. That was a sign that the party was almost over. I stayed in my spot as the guest trickled out in twos and threes.

Once the door closed on the last one Dad pulled Daddy close to his body and kissed him deeply, then he whispered in his ear. Daddy looked up toward my spot as if he were the one with x-ray vision.

"Jason Kent-Luthor, get your butt down here."

I grinned as I hurried down the stairs. They were still hugging as I reached them. "At least he wasn't in the coat closet, Lex."

"You should be asleep." Daddy told me.

"I like watching the parties. You don't give them often."

"That's because I prefer the company of my family. Since you're awake, come and have a hot chocolate with us."

I followed them down the hallway to the kitchen and jumped up on the counter as Dad began to heat the milk. Daddy shaved real chocolate from a thick bar into the cups. When it was ready, I popped a couple of extra marshmallows into my cup.

"How did things go this past week?" Dad asked.

"We missed you. Phillip got an A on his history test. Josette talked grandma into teaching her to bake the cookies she loves so much. Lily has a crush on her teacher."

"What about you?"

I knew I was blushing. I wanted to talk to them about it but the week before Christmas didn't seem the time to bring up such things. Growing up with two gay men I had been told the honest facts about things when I asked. Now I know that there are straight parents who talk to their children that way but I didn't know any then. Charlie's parents about had a cow when he asked about sex.

Even though they had told me the basic facts there were still some things I wasn't sure about and hadn't worked up the nerve to ask. But the past week had brought me several nights of sticky sheets and a mad dash to the laundry to prevent Grandma or the staff knowing about them.

Keeping my head down so I wouldn't see their faces I blurted it out. "Is it normal to have wet dreams almost every night?"

I heard a snort, a smack and then Daddy's voice, sounding a little strangled. "Can't speak for Clark, but I had them every night for several months."

"Months?" I knew I was whining. I looked up to find Dad blushing and Daddy smiling gently at me.

"If you take care of things before you go to sleep, it ought to slow down a little."

"You mean you want me to…" I couldn't say it and I knew my face was matching Dad's in color.

"It's a normal part of being male, Jason. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

"Jason, your Daddy might be a little blunt, but he is right. All males do that. It's a harmless way to get relief or pleasure."

I suddenly decided I didn't want to discuss it anymore so I asked them a question. "Where were you this week?"

"Out starting a new baby."

"I knew it. Boy or girl?"

"A boy, this time. Ready to take on the responsibilities of big brother to another boy?"

"You bet I am."

"Glad to hear it. Now, if you've finished that chocolate, and don't have anything else to discuss with us?" Daddy left it hanging.

"Just one more thing." This was going to be the hardest I knew.

"Yes?" Dad prompted when I was silent too long.

"How old were you when you knew you were gay?"

Daddy looked at me and smiled. "I never considered myself gay. I was omni-sexual. Your Dad just stole my heart and had he been a female I would have loved him just as much. Life just would have been easier and harder."

"Easier because people would accept your relationship better?"

"Yes, and harder because your grandfather would have protected a girl from me even more than he did a son."

"Jason, is there someone you're attracted to?"

"Yes."

"Do you think he shares the attraction?"

"Maybe, I don't know. But there is a girl at school who keeps – well she's damn pretty like Aunt Chloe and I get all tongue tied around her."

"Plenty of time to figure it out. We'll love you no matter who you pick." Dad told me.

"And if he or she hurts you I'll ruin them."

"Lex!"

"Daddy!"

He grinned and pulled me into a hug. "Come on, kiddo, time for bed."

Dad stayed to clean up the kitchen as Daddy and I walked toward the stairs and he still met us at the top. They both kissed me at my door and I watched as Dad picked up Daddy and hurried toward their room. If I could one day find someone to love me that much I'd be the second happiest man on the planet.

I lay awake for a while after I got into bed. There was a light tap on my door and a small bottle of Wet landed on the bed next to me. "Just in case. Night, Jason."

God could he embarrass me anymore? The door closed and I grabbed the bottle intending to pitch it at the door, but changed my mind. Tucking it under my mattress, I turned on my side and fell asleep, thinking how lucky I was to have such progressive parents.

TBC with Phillip's POV, Christmas shopping.
